The Katherine Looke
Katherine Hepburn
Katharine Hepburn's aversion to “glamour” only made her that much more alluring.
At a time when androgynous dressing was unorthodox, she sported menswear-inspired blazers, collared shirts, trousers, and loafers — carving out a style all her own.
Always aware of her slender frame, she would work closely with her Hollywood costume designers to create looks that nipped her waist and broadened her shoulders. Preferring to wear trousers, she regularly co-opted men’s tuxedo elements into her red carpet looks. Unfussy, almost utility dressing was modified to create glamour in unexpected ways.
